TLI Conference Update

Big ‘D’ Toastmasters was honored multiple times at the District 50 Fall Conference this past weekend! In the Hall of Fame, Big D was on almost every list of accomplishments, including:

  • Being a Presidents Distinguished Club for 2009-2010, with 10 of 10 Distinguished Club Program (DCP) Points!
  • This Summer, achieving a 100% Officers Trained ribbon, for all seven of our seven club officers attending TLIs;
  • Achieving both DCP points for membership – at least 8 new members between July 1 and September 30;
  • Getting our dues renewals submitted before the Early Bird deadline this September;
  • Getting 95% dues renewals in by October 15;
  • And for the individual educational levels that have been achieved by our members since July 1, 2010!

In addition, the Sparkling Pixel award for Outstanding Club Website, January-June 2010 – meaning the best website in District 50! – went to dallastoastmasters.com, webmaster Mike Weibel, CTM, CL! Mike, I have a plaque to present to you at our next meeting! CONGRATULATIONS!!

And most laudably, our own Chase Miller competed in the District Humorous Speech Contest on Saturday evening – having won our Club contest; the Area 31 contest, and the Metro Division contest to get on that District stage! And he was wonderful and delightfully hysterically funny! Chase was competing against six other Toastmasters, including one DTM (who placed second); one DTMx3 (who did not place at all), and a vivacious young woman who has been seven years in Toastmasters (and took home the 1st place trophy). Although Chase did not bring home a trophy, he made me quite honored to call Big ‘D’ my Home Club, and very, very proud of his fabulous performance! Chase, I was more proud of you at the end of your speech than I was when you got up on stage! Congratulations!

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to you all!

Best,
Danni C. Babik, DTM
