Dear Big "D" Toastmaster Members and Guests,


As you might have heard on the news lately, there is a lot of talk going on about the coronavirus. It's having an impact on virtually every aspect of American society. The Toastmasters organization knows this, and has sent information out to clubs to help them deal with any impacts.

The District 50 Director has said, "District 50 will leave the decision on the clubs to decide how they would like to meet and what is best in the interest of their members."

Current Status

March 20, 2020

On Thursday (March 19) the Governor of Texas issued guidelines that mandate all gatherings over 10 people are prohibited. As a result, all Big "D" Toastmasters meetings are now online. Please refer to the information at the top of the page for more information on when/where meetings will be held.

Going Forward

Toastmasters International has granted clubs in our area the authority to hold meetings online. Big "D" has chosen to take advantage of this offer, and will be holding meetings online until such time as the clubs executive committee determines that it is reasonable to hold meetings in person.

All online meetings will be held over Zoom. If you don't have Zoom on your computer, then you might want to go ahead and download the Zoom Client for Meetings.

March 16, 2020

On Monday, March 16th, 2020, the City of Dallas announced restrictions that resulted in the closure of the hotel meeting space for at least 7 days. As such our March 19th meeting will be held online. We have a post about the March 19th meeting that you can get all the details from.

March 13th, 2020

As of Friday, March 13th, 2020, the normal location for the club meeting is still available for our use. However, it's understood that not everyone may wish to attend a meeting in person. It's also possible that our normal meeting location will restrict our ability to meet there.

As of this writing all members have been asked what they want to do in regards to the March 19th meeting. If you are a member, please be on the look out for an email from the VP of Education.

Once the club membership comes to a determination on what to do for the March 19th meeting, it will be posted on the website.
