Contests To Be Held
Contestants present a five- to seven- minute speech on any subject they choose. All districts must conduct this contest.
The subject for the Tall Tales speech must be of a highly exaggerated, improbable nature and have a theme or plot.
Humor and props may be used to support or illustrate the speech.
Who is eligible?
For the Tall Tales contest all Toastmaster members in good standing are eligible.
For the International Speech Contest, you must be a member in good standing plus
Have completed six speech projects in the Competent Communication manual
or have earned a Certificate of Completion in Levels 1 and 2 of any path in the
Toastmasters Pathways learning experience.
These are the positions that need to be filled, the description, and who is currently volunteered to fill the role.
2 Timers - Toastmasters protocol call for 2 timers for a contest. We'd like to have 2 timers to make sure all contests are subject to the same timing requirements.
3 Vote Counters - All eligible members are allowed to vote. (Sorry, guests can not vote in contests.) The vote counters count the votes outside of the room, and turn the results over to the Chief Judge.
2 Sgt. At Arms - Two role holders needed here. When contestants are speaking it is imperative that no one enters the room. One of the two Sgt. At Arms will be guarding the door during a speech. Both Sgt. At Arms will be helping with various other items during the meeting.
1 Chief Judge - Verifies that all contest rules are followed during the contest. Councils contest master and contest chair before and during the contest.
