Visitors Welcome!
Visitors do not need to RSVP! You can simply show up to the Big “D” Toastmasters meetings and enjoy the oldest and most entertaining club in Dallas!
Meeting Location
Please see our Meeting Location page for full details on where we meet, including day of the week, time and location.
When you arrive
You should expect to be greeted by our Sergeant-at-Arms, VP of Membership, or another club member, who will ask you to sign the visitor log and get a name tag.
During the meeting
We do guest introductions during the meeting. The presiding officer will ask you to stand, give your name, and why you have decided to visit Big “D” Toastmasters. (Dallas Toastmasters.) If you are running late for the meeting meeting, we will ask you at the end of the meeting for the same information. You are perfectly welcome to “pass” if you’d rather not speak.
Meeting Structure
The meeting agenda includes four sections: Our Business Meeting (generally quite entertaining), Table Topics (impromptu speaking on our feet when called upon), Prepared Toastmaster Speeches (with the speech project selected from the Toastmasters manuals), and Evaluations (when speakers hear both praise for things done well, as well as one or two helpful tips from on-the-spot feedback). It’s all very well executed, and periodically, we will vary from the regular program to shake things up and keep stretching our speakers talents.
During your visit, you will not be called on for Table Topics, Toastmaster Speeches or Evaluations portions of the meeting. If you are a returning guest and do wish to participate in Table Topics please be sure to let one of the club officers, or the Table Topics master for the evening know. Again, you will not be called on if you are a guest, so don’t worry!
It’s customary to vote in each category. As a guest you are encouraged to join members in casting a vote for the best performance in each category. It’s fun to see the ribbon winners take pride in their efforts as they receive a weekly round of encouragement and challenge.
Visit Often!
You may visit as a guest as many times as you’d like, and there is absolutely no cost to visit. Feel free before the meeting, during the break, or after the meeting to talk to members or officers to learn more about our club, membership details and Toastmasters in general. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, supportive, welcoming group. Join us on a Thursday evening soon!
You do not need to RSVP to attend a meeting. If you’re running late, do come in, but please do so quietly as we start promptly at 6:30 pm.
We look forward to seeing you at the best Toastmasters club in Dallas!
