Weekly Update 10/14/2015

The schedule for November 1st, 8th and 15th WILL be generated on OCTOBER 22. I’m giving you a WEEKS notice that this is going to be done. There will be NO EXCUSE for you not to have your absences on the schedule ahead of time. [Though do note, we all understand important family matters and last minute work requirements come up.]
Also: YOU are responsible for finding your own replacement. YOU. (not me, not the toastmaster) YOU. When you log into the scheduling site you can see names/email/numbers of people who are on the schedule. ALSO, there is a MEMBER DIRECTORY on the DallasToastmasters.com site that you can use as well. In other words, I’ve just taken away your excuses for not finding a replacement.
Folks, Toastmasters is more than just learning how to speak. It’s building leadership skills that you can use in your professional and personal life. Finding your replacement, keeping up with the schedule, etc., is just one aspect of leadership. As you go through your Pathways journey, you will see assignments that do not require a speech. You will have to complete those assignments as well in order to proceed in your pathways journey.
As of today, Big “D” Toastmasters is already a “Distinguished” club for the 2018-2019 season. We need two points to achieve “Select Distinguished” for 18-19. When 4 of the club officers attending training next year, we will get one more point. Then we need 2 “Level 2’s” (In Pathways) by June of 2019 in order to one more point to get to “Select Distinguished.” In all seriousness, it is very much in reach to get “President’s Distinguished” for the 18-19 year as well. That would require a total of 4 more points (from today) or two more than what’s needed to get to Select Distinguished.
